Yesterday,
I loved every little part;
Every perfection,
Every imperfection,
Embraced it all as one,
And smiled and felt enlightened.
My self-conscious friends,
My pessimistic ways,
All cast aside to see,
Just how stupid and ignorant,
We all are,
And all can be.

Today,
I marvelled at things,
I don’t usually see.
Visited new places,
Laughed and loved,
Even more,
Of those stupid little things,
The thoughts,
The memories.

So why,
Tonight,
Do none of those things matter?
Why can I discard,
What I care about most?
Why do none of the joys,
Override the mistakes,
That I am again reminded of,
As wounds,
Old and new,
Are prodded.
Why must the beautiful Earth,
With its flawless errors,
And that on any other day,
Could send me smiling
Like a giddy fool,
Seem like such a lonely place,
Empty,
But full of an unmeasurable,
Incomprehensible,
Sadness.
Why are these immense feelings,
Miserable and overpowering,
Here to haunt,
When tomorrow
The sun will rise,
And another joyous day,
Of marvel,
Wonder,
And stupid little things,
Will begin to cycle,
Once again?
Just me ranting.
